WhiteHat posted a link, although I admit the article referenced was a bit hard to follow. I guess you can't complain too much when it is Mr Godwin himself doing the writing.

Anyway, Godwin's Law says that the longer a Usenet thread goes on, the more likely it is that someone will be compared to Hitler or the Nazis (and this will usually bring about the end of the discussion).

long version by Godwin himself:

http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/2.10 ... if_pr.html

Short Jargon file version:
http://www.catb.org/~esr/jargon/html/G/Godwins-Law.html

Quote for those who abhor clicking on external links:

Godwin wrote:As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches one.

the wired article is very good - Godwin developed the law in order to actually counter the trend described in the law - when a discussion looked like it was about to degenerate into nazi comparitives, then someone would quote the law and the dignity of all involved would be somewhat salvaged.

the probable reason why my attempt at making a similar law for this site won't work is because most people enjoy talking about women, mazola or both simultaneously...etc.

perhaps I spend too much time thinking about stuff like this..

Well, lets all go buy 12 gauge shotguns then... not as suttle as picking, but looks like it works.

(I also read that artical on te glass... same again they needed a shotgun to really do much.)
If it doesn't seem to make sence, take a minuite to look at who said it... do you still want to know?
