I need help with a lock!

Hi!

I really know nothing about picking locks, so I turn to your help.
I've lost the key to my bike's rear lock (the type that is placed above the backwheel to block once locked). The bike is old, very old. It's a classic old model. I live in The Netherlands, and they're really cheap here.
They way the lock works is that when you lock, the key pops out. Once you push it back in, the lock opens. You can't take the key out of the lock, unless you lock it.
I've tried to draw the key, I hope it helps.



Is it doable, or do i have to cut the whole lock off?

A photo would help enormously, if you could manage it.

But from your description and drawing, it doesn't really seem to be a "lock". It seems more like a simple device to stop someone jumping on the bike and riding it away.

Can you not improvise something a bit like the key that will fit inside and spring the lock open? It's really hard to say without more detail, unless someone reading here actually recognises the kind of lock and knows how they work.

If someone knows a site where there are pictures of keys, I could try to point it out.

So do u mean, that u just push the key in and the lock opens..?
Maybe u could improvise the key with just a screwdriver or something..
If u can't find a picture of the key, then just make a simple drawing and Im sure someone here will know what u are talking about.

If its the type of lock that is on all the bikes in Amsterdam then i would suggest you go to one of the bike hire places and ask them to unlock it for you, they may even sell you a new key, from my experiance all the locks are the same at these places.

No use in giving me a key. I picked up the bike again and they'd removed the whole lock. I think it was welded to the frame. I assumed though, that they'd just pick the lock for me....
Maybe I should get me a set. Just in case....
