Picking

Postby triman247 » 24 Feb 2005 21:14

I have opened 2 locks. One in my garage, and one at my school (Not to steal anything) I just can't get the one at my front door. It's a Schillage pin tumbler lock. I feel like I get all of the pins and they move freely, But it won't budge. Can someone help me with my lock?

You've only just started picking locks. This lock could have security pins, or perhaps more than five pins. Which could be harder. You need to practise more. Schlage is a very good brand lock and is a bit tricky to pick. So keep up the practise and you should get it.

I would NOT go picking locks at school , or anywhere for that matter if i were you ! I do not bring my picks out .
Someone will see you and get the "wrong" idea , and before you know it, you will be having an unpleasent conversation with the local police.

As for your door lock , i would not really mess with a lock you need .
Get some practice locks, to learn with , there is a buy and sell section on this site , check that out , go to your local scrap yard, and some really cheepo locks from your local Quickiemart :-)

Have fun , but be carefull !

schlage

Postby raimundo » 25 Feb 2005 11:31

schlage makes a common pin tumber that is commonly good, but they also make primus, which is probably on your bank, and an inbetween model called everest that might have turned up on your house, look at the side of the key, if you see anything interesting there, its not the common type.
Wake up and smell the Kafka!!!

it took a long time to be able to pick my front door, even after i had picked numerous other locks. depending on which way your house faces, on side might get more wind than the other (and therefore more rain). mine does, and so my door locks (actually its my back door) is very rusty. i put some water in it and blew it out with an air compressor. maby not the best thing  for a lock, but it worked. its much easier to pick now. :D

Raimundo: I've been paying a lot more attention to locks recently 8) and I've noticed that a few buildings on campus have primus locks... overkill do you think? I think it's especially funny because only the main doors have them and the buildings have alternate doors with more standard schlages.

Every exterior door at my school has a Primus, and is rather sexily fitted as well. It's a little out of place, considering how we're dead broke.

Saw your location and I just had to ask: you go to UC Berkeley?

Is lockpicking a big thing in college? Im in school and everyone seems supportive, if not interested themselves.

Out school uses Best brands, and I have lifted the pins often, but never compleatly picked one.
Only thing I seem to be able to pick is my nose
