How do I disassemble this drawer lock?

I managed to pick this wafer-lock (since I lack the key), and I want to remove the cylinder and take out some of the wafers. Does anyone have any idea as to how i should do this?

I couldn't figure out how to post a picture,
but the second picture (the back of the lock) shows a retainer ,(the brass thing protruding from the core) depress the retainer into the core and push the core out the front of the lock

No such luck, it moves a little bit but its stuck.

You may have to rotate the plug to a specific location, then depress the retainer.

There's a difference between the plug and the retainer? As far as i can see, thats all one unit, even the little round knob that looks like a button is just fixed there.

There is a little flat brass circle in the bottom that rotates with the rest of the lock, but pushing on it doesn't do much.

Does the brass circle go all the way round, or is it C shaped?

At a guess, I would say there is a groove in the core that the clip can be compressed into, thus allowing the core to slide out through the front of the lock.

If not, the lock may be one of those annoying things that is not designed to be disassembled. It snaps together when first made and never again will come apart.

If the C won't press inwards, try prising the fingers of the C outwards a bit while pressing hard on the core. The C clip could have small projections on the inside that sit in a groove around the circumference of the core.

My mistake, i was pushing it down, not inwards. Thanks for the help, its apart now

Now i just need to figure out how to remove these wafers...

Hmm, i can't seem to get rid of the wafers, they aren't in pairs, they're just one hollow rectangle each. I tried pushing them on both sides with a screwdriver but that doesn't work.

i too have a couple of wafer locks, just bought 2 from ebay for £1, opened one in literally 2secs on my 2nd attempt, i wouldn't secure much with these, but how to you take out the wafers? i got the lock itself apart fairly easily, just a matter of takinf out a screw and removing a clip, but the wafers aren't so easy, how on earth do you take them out??

Ok I figured it out, but my way only works if you don't intend on putting them back in

Get a pair of plyers or vice grips, grip the wafer, and bend them parallel to the cylinder. They don't seem to come out if you pull them straight up, but if you bend them out with some force, they come out.

lol, but what if you want to rekey it to make it harder to pick? no doubt they were made cheaply with the intention that they would never be taken apart!

I'll bet the best way to get 1 that is harder to pick would be to buy a different one!
