Practice lock

Postby RooJ » 9 Mar 2005 14:54

Evening, i was just wondering if anyone could advice on this:

http://www.ioffer.com/i/Locksmith-Works ... E.-5825202

Im considering buying a practice lock but im not really sure on what companies to trust etc. Has anyone bought one of these "Locksmith Workstations" or has anyone any information on whether the companies trustworthy?

Thanks

Maybe consider the group buy for a cutaway cylinder.

The only thing that makes em "rare" is that this seller only lists them one at a time! They are on ebay all the time about 2 days after each auction ends. I would deal with the lockpickshop (see flashing logo at left) if you are really interested in one. Or you could go out and buy some locks and make your own for about 1/2 the cost!

The cut-away cylinder included looks just like the one we are looking to get for $25 if we can find 50 takers for a bulk purchase.

Where I can obtain a cut-away and two ordinary cylinders for $12, please? I'd be there like a shot.

Too expensive if you ask me
A waste of your money. Buy a rekeyable padlock, and a cutaway.

You get a nice mount to hold your cylinders while you are picking them, plus a cut-away cylinder, plus two ordinary cylinders.

You have to weigh the cost of the mount with the time and effort to buy some clear plastic, cut it, drill it and glue it together yourself.

Some people might consider it worthwhile for the price. It's their money, and people can easily spend more on bigger follies.

Wouldnt it be really hard to make your own cutaway locks, What type of equipment and lock would you need for that?

A dremel, and if you want it to continue to bind normally, or close to normally, you'll need some plexiglass or something similar. Romstar made an excellent huge post some time ago, search for it.
