Was this a joke????

Btw, can anyone post a link to that guide on dismantling a regular pin lock and changing around the pins and removing, ect???

I read through the faq and info section and couldn't find anything, but would like to know how to do it when I get some lock cynlinders to play with.

It's actually pretty straightforward, even for the mechanically inept (although the mechanically inept may find themselves dropping things and stabbing themselves with their screwdriver) -- at least for standard cylinders in ordinary deadbolts or whatever. But it can be a little tough to describe.

Actually, if nothing similar exists, I have the facilities to throw together a straightforward how-to video on exactly that. Give me a few days.

Hehehe am back Smile

Bad news is i never even managed to get 2 pins in. To balance 2 pins on a spring and then insert the chamber thing is solid so i gave up. MAybe i should just by a new lock and stay away from taking them apart.

Kevin,

This is the last im going to post on this subject so take note,

You are still doing it wrong!! you do one pin at a time, there should be a spring down the hole then the top pin then insert the plug follower,

When you have the plug follower covering that pin (which you have held down with some tweezers to slide the follower in) you then move on to the next pin and spring, when you have done all the holes and the follower is fully in the lock body hole you should be left with 5 pins still on your table, these then get put in the holes that are in the plug, you then insert the plug at a rotation of around 10-80' and push it in the lock body at the same time as pushing the follower out, when the plug is fully in, turn it back to vertical and you should hear all the pins drop in to place, re fit the clip etc,

RE READ the entire thread, you obviously havent read it properly or taken it in properly, re read until you understand what the process is.

Consider this thread no longer watched.

that was painful reading this thread. Now i'm about to attempt the same but I can already understand what I need to do. However I have a few questions.

Kevin mentions in the first post in this thread that there is a pictorial guide on how to dismantle a yale lock. I have used the search facility but am not having any luck finding it, has anyone got a link to it.

Also Toomuchtodrink have you got a photograph of the home made plug follower you detailed on how to make, as I was a little confused by your description of how to make one. Before anyone flames I'm not talking a bout a standard tube but the one toomuchtodrink made that has a groove that holds the pins in when you want to re-assemble the lock.

To make a homemade follower get a piece of dowel then file a small slot across the end face of the dowel to hold the pins.
