see the thing that threw me was once he got shocked why didnt he look for what was shocking him and break it i mean there had to be a power source big enough to do that and i dont think it would fit in the shackle. if it was wired through the chain there had to be a section that was exposed. mabye im wrong and dont realize how perfect as machine it was, gues ill never be a doctor or even cure diesease.

wasn't he chained to a big metal pipe? i'd have guessed it was this that was conducting the electricity and it could be attached in another room, although the point still stands as to why none of them tried to stop it with clothing

Yeah it was a big metal shackle, attatched to a big metal chain, attacked to a big metal pipe.
Put current on that pipe and it would definatly reach the guy... there were no "wires".
But I still think that clothing or a photograph would have worked to insulate partially.
