Yes, master, and then declare that you don't know anything about it when the superintendent comes and asks if anybody knows anything about broken fuses and some short-circuiting.

just remember that if you do set up some booby trap that you are going to get 1 of 2 results
1. you may kill the intuder or yourself when you forget its there one night when you come back drunk or seriosly hurt your self
2. you find that your room has been broken into anyway and your booby trap has been set off but also you will be walking down a dark alley when the burglar and three of his mates jump you and give you a good kicking for being a smart arse.
moral of this story
buy a alarm

At school, they have these fabic thingies stuck inside the doorway, infront of the hole the metal part of the lock goes into. Basically, because of the placement, it makes it practically impossible to card because there is no space to slide the card in.

It's kind of hard to explain (And I'm terrible at explaining to begin with), but basically see if you can stick something in the doorjam between where you would card and the metal-thingy that's being carded (My termenology is great, ain't it?), while still allowing the door to close.

If you still have no idea, I'll try to swipe a Digital Camera and take a picture to show you what I mean. Picture's worth 1000 words, after all.

On a side note, I know it's Student Rez, but you might want to talk to whoever owns the place and try to convince them to get better locks.*shrug* An idea

Good luck

EDIT - Got a Picture

See where the black circles are? The Fabric thingys are stuck there.

Good luck again

That wouldn't stop it being bypassed, as your arrows are on the inside of the door. The bypass would slip the latch from the frame side of the door.

You could go in the other way, too, but you wouldn't be "pushing" straight into the latch anyway, you'd be pulling from behind anyway.

Leave it all alone.....

You say you are not staying there much longer,
You say theres nothing to have or even bothered if someone gets in,
You might be glad of the bypass one day,
If its a rez you will/should have insurance for your pants anyway,
In a rez someone will know who did it even if it was broken into,

If you get desparate you could buy the same lock but one that has the anti slip latch, then swap them over, and then swap them back when you leave, at least you get a practice lock in the end.

Depends which way you're bypassing from, that's true. And, yeah, you can always grab an L-Slide or something and get it open anyways, but it makes it a touch harder. Put it on the other side then. Heck, put it on both sides. Worth a shot if you really want to make carding harder

*shrug* It was an idea.

Why would you want to bypass from the inside - lot easier to open it with the lock handle :? .

ok ive had a idea
get a strong but flexi peice of plastic about 20mm wide and 60mm long fold it into a V shape so each side is 10 mm wide. then get some double sided sticky tabs and adere them to one side then stick it on the side the lock would be carded from so the Vshape catches the 'card' in the V this should work
