Defiant Door Lock

I should have checked with you guys first, but I just got and installed a defiant lock yesterday. I was wondering what the quality of them were. I've heard they have near the same pinset as kiwiset, which I've had good luck with in the past.

Main reason I'm asking, is I have someone that lives with me that isn't too good at lock picking, but got through my last kiwiset, ruining it in the process. It had to be ultimatly have the outer lock part(don't know the word) drilled out. Then I opened it with a pair of plyers. Overall it was massive trouble from an inquisitive brother. Any suggestions? I don't know the model, if you could tell me where the model number is I would post it.

i cant help you with the defiant im afraid, but are you saying you had a kwikset on your door which was somehow strangely destroyed and now you've replaced it with a defiant? if this is the case i'd suggest never picking a lock you rely on. buy one specifically for picking, then it doesnt matter if it breaks.

also, if it was your brother picking it that broke it, he is doing something VERY wrong....

Actually it was on my DOOR at the time. It wasn't one that I was picking.

Yeah, he snapped a peice of a rake in it. Thats how it got broken.

whoever this someone is, they're doing something wrong... tell them not to pick any locks but ones they buy specifically for picking and show them this site.

I am almost certain that Defiant is just a rebranding of Kwikset sold by either walmart or home depot... don't remember.

the first lock i bought for practicing for about $6 was crap, the pins were all the same size except for two that were half a milimeter shorter then the rest. yours may be different i dont know, but with mine i could pick it with the flat back side of a pick
