Hmm as there are no upper pins this lock presents a unique challenge, but I am sure that the lock can be both picked, and bypassed. If the lock hasn't yet been released to the public you can't tell if the lock will be picked at their isc show, or not. However 3 months on the market, and there will be a bypass, and people picking it. Give it a year, and there will be people asking about it, and recieving advice on here as if it were no different than a schlage with its new keyway.

I could make a decoder for it if I could get my hands on a couple of blanks.

The real trouble is that brinks locks don't all use the same key blank. I have bought several, and they all almost have a different type of key.

The keyway kinda reminds me of a normal wafer lock with thicker wards and upside down. If that illustration was perfectly accurate it might be possible to make a keyblank from the picture. That's a big "if" to be gambling travel expenses to Vegas on though. Unless the locks are already available for sale, the only alternative would be to bring the tools to make the decoder, and make it at the show. Not entirely infeasible, especially if blanks were available there and it wasn't necessary to make your own, however it would make quite a scene. I gave my information to recieve a press kit so I'll post the info when I get it. Maybe there will be something usefull.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if they were a heap of clauses with the offer etc etc... that said I really like to see companies do this sort of thing, it shows a bit of faith in your product and even if someone does bypass it I still think that confidence reflects well on your company/lock/product etc.

I contacted the owner of the booth and he told me very clearly that no such promotion exists. He did say there will be a competition, with several iPods as prizes. I believe this is the one mentioned on the site.
