ABUS padlock nightmare

I have a ABUS padlock N65/50 i have tryed all the picks i have and with no luck

all the other padlocks i have tryed to open i have stuck with and have got them opened in the end

.but this little bas@@@@ :evil:

as got me going round the bend :wink:

can anyone give me some help thanks

if its the lock im thinking of it is quite a tough cookie there are two spool pins in it and the key bitting is quite harsh deep cuts next to shallow ones. you will need quite a deep hook pick to get to the last two pins
dont give up i have picked four different locks so i have a little experience of them i havnt picked any more as i dont have anymore. it takes me about five to ten minets to open these locks

yeap spool pins ,,, can be very frustrationg but they do open .. usually when they are new it is easyer to open .

I think it was the ABUS lock, where somebody posted that extremely light tension works best... much less than your usual padlock. I wish I had an ABUS lock I could play with.

Well my advise on getting past spools/mushrooms is to pick and rake the lock a fair bit untill you think you have most of the normal pins set, then (most likely you have false set the spools) you SLOWLY I stress this SLOWLY!!! release tension untill you hear a faint click (or feel for that matter) then you should use a hook for this, poke the pin up as far as it will go with the same tension you slowly relesed off, what this will do is alow the spool to 'reset' and then when you poke it back up tighten tension again, hopefully you got it, then do the same process for any other security pins in there, I have set up an ABUS with 3 mushroom pins...

and this takes about 5 minutes to get through its quite easy but just takes time, so good luck and fill us in about how you go.

I've also just bought myself a ABUS N-65/50 to practice with, and it's turning out to be quite a challenge (hence the reason i found this post).

The first pin seems easy to set, but after that none of the other pins want to budge. The information here should provide useful.

I have two ABUS padlocks, N65/30 and N62/40 Buffo. They don't give me any trouble at all. Simply set the last pin, use very light or alternating tension. If you do it right, the shaft of the pick should automatically set the other pins as well..........

Ok I still haven't been able to open this ABUS 65/50, there are a number of security pins from what I can feel (probably spools). The problem I'm facing is that after I set three pins I try to set the forth and another pin pops back up. I then gently set the pin that just popped up, and the other pin jumps up again. I keep alternating between those pins and just can't get past it. I've tried a number of different picks too.

It's a new lock and I have the key and it does work, I'm able to pick other ABUS locks that I have, and a number of other locks that have spools, but this one is keeping me quite busy.

I've passed it around to a couple of friends who also pick locks as a hobby and they haven't been able to get it open yet either. Maybe I should go back a couple of steps and find some easier locks.

Have you tried flooding the lock with lube ? This can help to over come the security pins :wink:

Letting the shaft of the pick do all the work may bring you success, but it is more rewarding to pick pin-by-pin. It really depends on how serious you are though. Definitely use a hook pick and not a rake for these locks. Since there are spool pins, it's quite easy to false set a pin when raking.
