Oh...By the way...Having opened the "Fire-Fyter" safe, collected the combo, and repaired it back to working condition...My next project is a "Saga, Safe-D-Posit" safe...Lucky for me the safe was open, but with no combination...After removing the lock cover I quickly aquired the combo...I noticed that the construction of the wheels and other parts is made of cheap, but heavy steel. The handle is attached to the bolt via a lever and the opposite end of the bolt is the only thing that fits into the notches of the wheels, allowing the bolt to throw. The design is very simple, and the combination is appearantly changed by moving the pins on the four wheels to different positions. But there are only about twelve holes on the wheels which dramaticly reduces the number of possible combos. And mine are all multiples of five which I think reduces it even more. The distance from the back end of the bolt to the wheels is about 3/4 of an inch, causing the handle to be very sloppy, so I will weld a 1/2 inch piece of matching steel to the end to tighten it up. I think I will paint it black and add some pin strips & lettering.
I'm still hoping to find a small, good quality, antique safe soon.
