Can you recommend a certain set though? I want something that once I hit like intermediate level of skill I won't need to buy another set. and try to keep it below $40. And make sure it works for American locks if you post to help. Thanks.

I'd probably go with a Southord set. Maybe the 17 piece set. I wouldn't actually buy an intermediate set yet though. A lot of people end up breaking their first picks because they don't know how to use them properly. Start cheap, and go for the nicer stuff later when you can really tell the difference.

I just realized I can't order from that site. They require proof of age and well...I'm only 15. Does anyone know someplace where they don't require age but are reliable? Sorry for so many question.

stay away from the jack knife sets. Search the forums for starter sets. All the info you need has already been covered dozens of times. Just as a tip though, if you go with southord get the reiforced metal handles .
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!

I would strongly urge you to stay away from the jackknife sets. You are much better off with a standard pick set.
There really are a ton of threads on this. You are new here, and wouldn't necessarily know this, but a couple times a week somebody comes in here and asked a similar question and people here start to get a little tired of answering questions that have already been covered several times. That is what the search feature of this site is for. Please have a read through the FAQ section of this website. It will help you understand the do's and don'ts around here and protect you from the otherwise inevitable flaming that comes with not knowing the site.
And for a direct answer to your immediate question, this site is sponsored by lockpickshop.com. They even offer a 10% discount on regular priced items to members of this forum. I would personally recommend a PSX14 or 17 set, but opinions differ and your milage may vary.
Hope this helps, and happy picking!

Sorry to post a redundant question but I need a site that does not require proof of age but is still reliable. All these sites want some kind of license copy and I can't give them one. I'm looking for a site too but maybe you'll have better luck.

I don't know how much luck you'll have with that. Easiest way to buy them is with a credit card. Talk with your parents/guardians about it, and maybe they'll order it for you.

http://www.lockpickshop.com I have ordered from these folks myself and have been quite happy. You should not need any ID at all. You can pay via paypal account if you do not have a credit card. If you do not have paypal, it only requres that you have a bank account to set one up.

Problem is that I don't have any bank accounts. All I am able to do is send a money order because I am only 15. Will they take my money order with no proof of age?

actually, at lockpickshop you need to have a credit card and a bank account or just a credit card.
You need a "confirmed address" to order from lockpickshop, and you can't get a paypal confirmed address without a credit card associated with your account.
The paypal address and billing address of the credit card must match and then you have a confirmed address.
Of course you can still pay with your bank account.
Finally, I would suggest getting 3 or 4 tension wrenches and then a short hook, a slimline short hook, an L-rake and perhaps a long hook in case you mess up a lock somehow, a Long hook can fix more of any problems with pins...
I bought a custom little set of picks, but all I use are the short hooks and if I want to get in quickly, the L-rake.

Hello
You dont have a bank account? Just go to the bank and set one up. I did that when i turned 13, so you should be able to unless where you have has different ages and things like that. But you should go to the bank and check it out. You should be fine sending money orders because i can and im only 14. If you are in the US and are ordering from lockpicks.com you could even get a COD order.
Hope that helps!
