ten's probably the minimum amount, I have a set of skeleton key's that if extended would probably jiggle that old sash lock open!
Looking through my little book here, there's loads of different wards, and therefore i shall not even hazard a guess!

up to 6 i'd use wires, chances are it wont have anti pick gates, i would make two wires ... if it's warded make a wire with a bend!!! that's my idea

then find a blank and file all the warding away so that your left with a skeleton, but try to make an immpression first with plastercine!!!
