Unpickable lock in London?

A friend of mine was asking me about some apparently unpickable lock that sits in a shop window in London. He says he seen a tv program about it and anyone can go in and attenpt to pick it and if they do, there is a cash prize. Also apparently some American dude picked it and they wont pay him the money because they say he cheated. Anyone know anything about this?

If I'm not mistaken, it is the Bramah (sp?) lock that you are referring to. Matt Blaze has a piece on defeating these, and there is no longer any reward for doing so.

Yes, sounds like you are referring to AC Hobbs picking the Bramah lock in 1851. Took him 51 hours over 16 days to pick it though!

Other way round dude!
To use a key when picking a lock is cheating!
If you're on a mission to pick a lock, that's the objective, to use other means other than picking would indeed be cheating, Get it?
