ok, heres some advice...
- videos cant really teach you much about picking, you cant see whats going on inside a lock from the outside
- if you really want some videos, you'll have to search for them, theres a sticky called videos, this would be a good place to head for

its in the first topic (i cant remeber the name right now), a good video for making your own picks would be one by a guy called PYRO1234321 this is basically the basis for many many peoples pick making.
- if you are making your own picks, look for a website ran by a person called Zeke79, the contents of this will help you immensely.
- if you cannot make or buy picks, try searching for other things to use, there are much better alternatives to what you are using. one example is a hair grip broken off just before the wiggly bit to give you a tension wrench and a pick.
- those baggage locks you speak of, if they are the ones that seem rubbish and have a wiggly key they opens them, not like a normal lock, they are not that easy to open IMHO (i haven't done it), but all it takes is a little searching inside with a pick for a lever which opens the lock, just press on this and it'll spring open.
- i cant really see how a scalpel is helping you, but if it does, use it, just be careful of the blade
- in future, think carefully before posting and search before you do, this will avoid people flaming you, if you are stuck with a particular lock in future, give details of it in posts as well to avoid people getting annoyed, things like make, model, distinguishing features if you dont know the model, picks used, techniques, etc.
- if you havent done so already, take a read of the MIT guide (search for it), watch and read the info at
http://www.howstuffworks.com and i hear
http://www.crypto.com has some good info, although as yet, i havent had time to check.
i hope this sort of helps you learn to pick, a little pointer, if you couldn't be bothered to read all of this post and spend time searching for info, you maybe dont have the patience to pick locks...
if you did read and search, good for you! post some more detailed questions and you'll get some good replies
and finally, im not having a go at you or flaming you, im just trying to give you some friendly pointers on how to progress, i hope it proves useful
