Nice job! A decent looking deephook. The pick itself has an hook-angle and a handle i dont usually prefer. For deep hooks i use the falle-type deep hook bend and handle design to fit my grip. However, you didnt do anything wrong as far as i can see. After all, the pick was made by and for you, not me
Keep on doing what you'v just done and craft as many picks as u possibly can! Find, try out and evolve new templates from the board. Read the threads on pick hardening aswell, alot of healthy info there.
Good luck and have fun!
PS. Always nice with new pic(k)s, so pls post em as you progress!

nice pick!
how did you make it, did you use a grinder, or a dremel or?...
i've only got files, they're not bad but your pick far exceeds anything i've ever managed to make!
it has a rellly nice smooth shape to it, you should be proud of yourself, but not too long! either use it on some locks or get back to the garage and make the rest of the falle-safe set, i know digital_blue made a evry nice set not too long ago.
as for the pick hardening threads, search for things such as tempering, pick hardening/strengthening, heat treating, etc. the original post was by Dry132, have a look for it if you havent heat treated your picks yet, i'd advise doing it before using them, otherwise they may snap and spoil all your hard work!
i hope this helps!

I used a grinder like pyro does.. and then later a dremel with a sandpaper addon to grind off the paint.
I kinda understand that with the tempering, its just i dont know how hot i have to heat the metal. Its from something like 1945....did they have carbon steel at that time?

whats from 1945, the hacksaw blade or the guide? if its the blade it got some good use and did well to stay sharp that long!
it says in the guide in that link something like heating the metal until it glows cherry red if i remember rightly, i may be wrong though of course, the best thing to do is read it and find out!

the hacksaw
But in the video, pyro says at the end that you shouldnt temper the actuel picks or else theyll become to brittle...

i cant remember the actual process and stuff, but i know in the guide i posted it involves making the pick very brittle then strengthening it again so its really strong.
if you did as pyro said and kept the pick cool and kept dipping it in water, it should be fine, so you wont neesd to worry about the heat treating process anyway.

As long as you quench as you grind, you do not need to temper the picks in any way when using hacksaw blades.
As for your actaul pick, nice job! You'll probably want to round out the handle end or those corners might get bothersome as you pick, but for a first attempt, it looks good. For a 15th attempt it looks god for that matter.

The pick looks nice, now see if it works
To me the end looks extremely pointy, which will give you very accurate feedback from the lock, though might be a pain to move in and out or might get caught between some locks' pins.
As for other people's picks, you should just try to search to find them. I also made a compilation post of pictures called homebrew hall of fame

your pick looks thin, this is a specialized pick that you will find very useful on tight keyways when you have the very fine feel that you will also develope using it. You should definately make a stronger pick rather than use this one all the time. That is so that it does not become over forced and bent or broken. Nevertheless, it looks like a very nice pick that will serve well on difficult locks when you have developed the 'feel' but you should not use it with force.

Your pick looks to be of great quality, but the actually hook looks too long. This is just my opinion, though, and if it works for you, then it's great. The only other thing is that you might want to round the edges off of the handle to avoid getting cut.

I think you should do it leaf-by-leaf. There's more skill in that.
