Was in Marches yesterday and saw the locks they look quite a good all round lock with as you say some good features. I too like the adjustable tensioner, also you can spin the latch for either hand fitting without opening the case (by inserting that plastic peg and turning it). There were a couple of things I was unsure about, the lock they showed me didn't have a nice smooth action and jammed on times, also I didn't notice any high tensile steel bars in the bolt. They could have been inserted from the back of the bolt and not drilled right through to show on the outside, or the whole bolt could be made out of high tensile steel (but it didn't look like it). I will have to pick one up and have a go at it.

You will probably find that some council worker probably took the one you were looking at apart the day before and never put it back together correctly

I don't know if you are taking the micky 79 commando or you haven't read the posts but both Quicklocks and myself are council workers (and we don't lean on shovels before you think of saying it) and not embarassed to own up to it either!!!!!! the lock we were talking about happened to be at a suppliers (Marches) and brand new. So lets hope your workmanship is up to scratch before you start taking the micky out of us!!!!! You could quite easily be the one who opened up the lock and thats why it doesn't work correctly. How do we know!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh and by the way we have heard all the jokes before regarding Council workers, its a shame no one can come up with anything original or give us a break and realise were time served tradesmen not someone who thinks there a builder because they have watched D.I.Y .SOS or changing rooms. Nothing surprises us any more when it comes to micky taking!!!!!!!

I doubt 79Commando meant anything - just friendly banter. Time to put the handbags away.

No problem Rockford, I have had my rant and like you say its probably banter but when you deal with the banter every day from every one you meet you sometimes have to put your point across and get it off your chest. So the handbag is back in the cupboard and there it will stay hopefully, and hopefully no one will take a fence to my posts.

Nice to see someone realised I was extracting the urine. I would have let on earlier but I was on a tea break for the last six hours.

Mad Mick I found the donkey jacket you talked about in one of your last posts, would you like it posted to you? you have a choice one with black shoulder patch or one with orange shoulder patch? I think the orange would be rather fetching for you and I will send the other to 79Commando so he too can look like an expert...lol...

As for the fence you were lucky to get the posts this year, and I can't see there will be enough money this year for the fence after Quicklocks and I have had our wages and pensions paid.....lol...... Maybe next year!!!!!!!

Proud of my past, pity that politics and getting things on the cheap have tarnished our image.
I also still continue with my U.C.A.T.T subscription as to previous posts by fellow brothers (so for the union terminology) contractors who claim they are tradesmen who have not had extensive training of craft, Advance craft and do things on the cheap and then council workers have to put things right. unlike me one of the lucky ones.
Unfortunately i was one of those who abused their sickness scheme and was caught working out of hours, alowing me to take my redundancy, otherwise i dare say i would still have been working there now .....part of the familly

 Were the orange patches later used, so that 'workers' couldn't hide in the shadows? I'll take the one with the orange (blaze I hope!!) shoulder patches, just in case I have to go to 'the_land_of_burgers_and_fries_where_everyone_is_armed_and_they_have _something_called_the_world-series_but_the_rest_of_the_world_isn't_invited'...I don't fancy getting shot anytime soon! :P

P.S. When the (loud) music stops, does the guy who's actually working get to swap places with one of the three who have been watching?

P.P.S. Don't be offended, I'm just messing with you. The council workers where I grew up did a great job. Who else is going to come out and board up a broken (vandalised!) shop window on Christmas Eve, in the falling snow, at 2AM (O.K. Christmas Day then!), whilst I slept drunkenly on the couch downstairs, nextdoor? Good job lads, thanks, keep it up.
