Electric Tubular Lock Pick

Postby ThE_MasteR » 21 Apr 2005 7:04

Hey pros, I am new here and picked my first lock not to long ago pin-by-pin  ..and I am pretty good at lock picking some padlocks I have.

Now, my question is, i've seen tubular picks but you have to do it yourself ( pull down the feelers, make them equal, wiggle bit..bla bla bla..)

In a movie (Cradle 2 The Grave) when he goes in the elevator, he puts in a tubular lock pick and he presses a button and voila, it opens. It seems quite real by the looks of it, I just don't know for real..

THX in advance if someone can anwser this

Neat idea. I have never heard of one, but if there isn't, I don't know why. Should work the same as a regular electric pick, I would think. I wonder what would happen with a "viberating" bic pen? Interesting....

Remember, though, that such a thing wouldn't create a stable key allowing you to turn the lock through the entire arc necessary to unlock it; you'd have to "get lucky" several times in a row, once it relocked again. Might not end up being any faster.

I suppose that's why I've never heard of one. Thanks vector. I hadn't thought of the relocking.

From what i remember about the film, its the HPC Small Bore Quick Release Tubular Lock Pick, and the button he presses is the reset button. I havent got the film on DVD but ill try and track it down to confirm. Heres a link to a picture,

Incidently, towards the start of the film, when he's running down the tube track, he unlocks a door using a snap gun with no tension wrench. And don't get me started on using an AT4 Anti-Tank Rocket to open a safe.

I was able to unlock a simple lock without a tension wrench, but not a dor lol..That film is exagerated though, while he was cutting the floor, why didn't the camera see it ?
