Well, I finally got myself a bicycle for commuting back and forth to work last week. I have to do something about this spare tire I'm carrying around. The bikes a beater more or less. Ugly as sin. Nothing to write home about. Last years model. It even has fenders. I'm hoping it will go unnoticed due to it's "Old Mans bike appearance". It comes in a primer grey sort of colour. Kona makes a pretty decent bike though, so I may have to paint the company name off the frame right away.
I've been looking at a lot of various locks to keep the bike where I left it. I'm really up in the air as to which lock to buy. I don't want to spend a fortune. I'd say $50.00 to $75.00 is about right. This may sound illogical, but a good lock might tell thieves the bike is actually worth stealing.
I've been looking at OnGuard and Kryptonite mostly. I'm avoiding the tubular locks all together. Abus makes some really fine locks like the Granit 54 for example. I haven't seen them here in Canada anywhere. They’re pricey anyway. I’m sure they are worth every penny though.
Does anyone have any good or bad experiences they'd like to share about bike locks they are presently using that might help me come to a final decision as to which lock I should purchase? Thanks for your replies in advance.
