If you are looking for an Abus Diskus you can use Froogle (http://www.froogle.com). They are the price search engine of Google.

Here are some direct links though:

P.S. I have NOT ordered from either of these companies, I bought my locally so this is NOT an endorsement.

I for one found it easier to practice when the lock is mounted, at least on something...be it a door for knobs or deadbolts or a hasp for padlocks. I first practiced on rim cylinders that I mounted in my vise but that got to be too easy so I moved on to harder things.

It is true though that picking some padlocks is harder than others. I have, however, picked a few padlocks that claimed to be 'pick-proof' or contain anti pick pins of some sort. Of course most of the time a pick gun works much better with anti pick pins than a simple rake does.

Try practicing on a lock when it's 20 degrees F and sleeting with a strong North wind, that'll either make you do it quicker or give up altogether. :)

Good luck with practice.

i recently bought a cheap mexican knock off of a kwickset called a protectoro it is a deadbolt and i got it for 7.00 at home depot i mounted it in a 1ft piece of 2x6 i find picking things that are mounted to be a lot easier than picking padlocks, but i do need to upgrade my current practice lock

Abus buffo diskus special tools to open

Postby lockpickroy » 1 Jan 2004 21:03

I have a Abus buffo diskus padlock. because of the small paracentric keyway as was stated earler in this thread normal picks wont work .i use a tension wrench with a short tip and insert it in the top of the keyway and use a safty pin with a slight bend at the tip . it works great for me 10-20 seconds to open but the first time it took about 45 min to open
