In the hands of an unskilled person, it probably doesn't.

But really, with just seven posts and a seemingly keen desire to open one particular lock without wanting to learn about locks and their opening techniques in general, your motives are a little open to question.

There is information to be found about how bump keys work on this site, you just need to search a little.

First thing you need to do is put a 90 degree bend in the key near the shoulder so you have a flat surface to strike. After that is done, you'll need a rubber mallet and some chewing gum. When you get to that point post here and I'll walk you through the rest of it.

A search for 'bump keys' would help a great deal...

There are 1074 matches, but there should be something of help.

prophecy: Ok, pardon my attempt at sarcasm. You don't bend the key, and shewing gum really doesn't enter into the picture. What I probably should have said was this:

You are a new user and your motives, at the moment, seem somewhat suspect, so I am not going to answer that question, nor do I expect many other experienced users here. Information on bump keys is freely available so if you are inclined to do your own research you will likely find it, but I don't expect anybody to be running up to tell you how to do what you want to do, as it would appear that you have a conspicuous interest in this one lock for some reason.

There... I feel better now.

Personally I don't think that Bumping will work on this lock.
I have one that was given to me yesterday by a friend. He saw my interest in the lock and he had no key for it so he gave it to me.

After reading on the serreted pins and seeing the actual behaviour of them while picking, bumping seems not so likely.

Pin 1 doesn't want to fall completely into the plug, and the 2nd and 3rd pins are really hard to move with any confidence even with a little tension.

Just my observations tho, correct me if i'm wrong.

also just a note, the lock is practically brand new
