Broken key extractor

How do you use a broken key extractor? I dont see any results for it when I searched

Which one? the one that looks like a diamond with a barb on the end?. If so i dont blame you, i have been able to get that to work either because most of the locks i have picked or got something out of were padlocks so i shake them vigoriously or throw them at something soft and it normally comes out.

Is their only use taking out broken keys?

They're used to remove anything that might be stuck in a keyway.

The only ones I've been able to use with results were small spiral ones that you basicly screw into the lock next to the key and pull out. Not sure what brand they are though.

I've the HPC version of this, with the vice head and different blades. The spiral is the one I've found most effective.
