There is a thread on cracking a Dudley lock that explains sticking points. So far you haven't even mentioned the brand of the lock or anything. It could be that you can just shim it open very easily, but you'd have to provide more info, so... I'll say it again:

Ask a better question, get a better answer.

I was slightly worried about your initial post by the fact that the only reason you gave for wanting to gain access to the box was to "have a look" this automatically sent warning bells off by the fact that how does anyone knoe this box belongs to you and that you are not trying to break into it you really should be careful what you write in your first post as people are unlikely to help you now but hey i might be wrong someone may be willing to help you i know i wouldn't

Sweet. I am being very easy on you. Be happy it was me that got in here to answer. :) Things you should consider:

1. Consider very carefully what jamo has said. He makes a very valid point and you should think about it. Nobody here is interested in helping you do somethign immoral, so it will help your cause to explain in detail what you want to accomplish AND why.

2. This site has a search button that is very good. If you read my above post I have even given you something to start searching for. Members here are not inclined to hold your hand and do all your research for you. It's not that we're all grumpy or unhelpful, but there are an awful lot just like you and who has that kind of time?

3. You will learn more by researching yourself anyway because you will come upon all kinds of cool things. That's half the fun around here.

I am not being difficult, nor grumpy. I am trying to help you in the best way I see fit, but you'd best do a little of the work yourself.

ok well thanks and I will read more and i never said you were grumpy!!lol. But yeah if i need more help maybe it will be something that you can help me with and once again thanks I am not being immoral whatever that means but I know I'm not so yeah. Does that mean if I can figure out the sticking points I can figure out the combo?

I think that should be "and who wants to admit they have that kind of time?"

Sweet: There is a whole thread devoted to exactly what you are trying to figure out. "Cracking a Dudley" or something. As of yet, they have not found a way. But you can join in their fun if you like. If you are really in a pinch, cut the shackle with a pair of bolt cutters. But from your post I gather that your mother does not want you looking in there, so if I am correct, then what you want to do is in fact immoral. Look it up.

digital_blue is just that "grumpy sort" hahaha

Why do you have to open it so badly? Your mom doesn't want you to see what's inside until she deems it the right time, so you should respect her wish. Surprises have much more impact when you have to wait, and if you break into it, you will have to lie and fake surprise to your mom later. Patience is a admirable trait.
