Hello, first time posting here but I found this place when I was looking for a way to find the combo on my old lock. I used to use it like well over a decade ago must have been. Its a Dudley with black dial and only unique identifying marks on it is a "B" on the back.
I think I have the sticky points but as I said, this is an old lock so I am sure there is some wear in it.

I'm going to go back and read the rest of the thread to see if there is more I can do at this point. If someone can help with the combination, it was be nice. (rather than splurging for a new lock for work, why not use an old one if it still works eh?)

Alright guys, sorry for not posting here in a bit, still havent opened my dudley, but I have a long weekend and am willing to give these combinations a shot. Just repost underneath with a quote so I know you still come to these forums and you still want it open. I don't want to be opening locks and never know they worked.

Hey, a lot happens in a week. Anyways, I've just grinded open a dudley using a real grinder (not the drill press) and have started playing with it. I knowticed a #17 on the false notch disk, the first one, the one with the only security. DB, can you check to see what number you have?

I think 17 represents the combination number for that dial if I recall correctly. I've since thrown out the pieces of the dudley I ripped apart, so I can't verify that.

I was wondering if someone could figure out my combination. It's a Dudley combination lock with a black dial. The Sticking points are;

Going by the numbers with the largest change, I'd say the combo could be along the lines of:
7-18-50
7-50-18
18-7-50
18-50-7
And other combinations of those numbers. I wish there were a clear-cut way of telling which were false gates...
I'll sort the points with a difference into 0.5 differences and 1 digit differences.
0.5 only, either on one "end" or on both ends: 11-15 (13), 17-22 (19)
1 only, on one "end" only: 48-52 (50), 42-46 (45), 35-39 (37), 5-9 (7).
This gives us 3 real numbers, and 2 false ones, one for each free disk. I wish there was a good way to discern between them, but this shown nothing. Any progress on the code on the bottom or letter on the back bit?
Just so everyone here knows, rayman will be absent from the Dudley Project until his school year/exams are over. I'll be dropping by every few days, and I'll try to do a few people's combos, but be patient-this is a bit of a hectic time for us high school students.

Well, I may be able to squeeze some time in...
I think its time we took a new appoach, which is creating a list of all possible combinations, then using points to knock combinations off. All of the one's I've tried cracking, I have at least one of the combination numbers, if not two. That should be useful for eliminating tries...Im going to contact the Dudley team and see how they think. Sabin37, can you PM me with your MSN email, and anyone else on the team do the same?

Hey guys,
I have been reading your posts and I still don't quite understand how the rayman's graph has 2 points for the each sticking points that you say "match each other". Also, how do you find the fake points?
Here are my sticking points if you are still interested, rayman~
CW:
0-3
6-9
12-15
18-21
24-25
30-31
36.5-38.5
42.5-44.5
48-50
54.5-56.5
CCW:
0.5-4
6.5-10
12.5-15
18-21
24.5-27.5
30-34.5
36-39.5
42-45.5
48-51.5
54-58.5
Colour: black, Dudley "A" (Also this one has a square shaped shackle rather than the usual rounded shape).
I know that it's kinda weird that there are points with .5 but that's what I observed and I wanted to be accurate.

A square shackle? I've never even heard of those, can you post a scan or picture of it? Is the shackle a solid piece, or is the square bit added on?
dudley doright... I think it was a movie at some point. Google turned up near nothing, stuff like this: http://www.inkyfingers.com/Jenna/R&B.dudley.htm
Amusing, but nothing to do with locks. Anyone here who knows what it's for (other than the movie).
Rayman, if your graphing method can reduce the possible numbers, then combined with the CW+CCW points can give us a near-definite combo for a lock, I think.
What happened to the members working on the serial (presumably) number? Anything?
wwiilliiee, we're still not quite sure how to find the false points, sadly. Other than trial and erroring every number we get from the points, we haven't quite tried many other ways. I think rayman's graphs plus the numbers idea might work well, we'll see.

Thanks for your reply. The shackle is just sqaurely bent, one solid piece. I think they make them this way now but it's nothing new.
rayman, please let me know if you can come up with possible combos for my lock. I need to use a lock soon and this one happened to be lying around my house.
Thanks for all your efforts guys.
