I NEED HELP!

Postby mupet » 23 May 2005 0:47

The little metal peices are what we call anti fish plates these are designed to prevent anyone fishing stuff out of the box through posting slot as for the lock i need more info on the key hole its self;
1 will the disc with the slot turn without a key.
2 Is the slot more to one side or in the middle.
3 Can you see anything down the keyhole.

Between the pop-up blockers on IE, Google toolbar, and Norton internet security, I can't remember the last time I've seen a pop-up. Of course with some sites, I can't get some links to work, because they get blocked too.

can you make an "L" shaped probe with a tip just under half the keyway length and have a feel down inside the lock in all directions, feel for moving or sprung componants and for fixed sections. from what you've said so far it sounds similar to a warded padlock. let us all know what you find.

If you say that the lock you have is identical to the warded locks described in the article in the link you provided. Try using a set of waded lock picks (as shown in the article), if you don't have any of these picks you can try making some to the patterns shown in the article, out of a hacksaw blade.

By the looks you have a double bitted lever lock with up to 12 posable levers (6 per side).
The trick with these locks is being able to put pressure on the talon to enable you to trap the levers that you have lifted to the gates (sher line)
It mite also be worth starting to look at a differant way to open it other than picking as is the case with most of this type of opening ( Yes i know this is all about picking locks but in some cases it is not possable)

as mupet points out it may not be warded. if it is you'll be able to feel fixed plates at points inside the lock, if it is it should be easy to open. if it's levers they'll feel springy/ stiff (it is an old lock), and you'll need to find out if they're on one side or double sided as mupet sugests. it's important to know what you're dealing with. any joy searching for "burn.co"?
