If you are really skilled, you can get your benchgrinder on an extension lead, and use that. Take your time, and carefully grind the lock into a sort of J shape, quenching as you go. Next, thin it down a bit, till it is .3mm thick, and then use that to pick the... oh, wait...

.44 Magnum will do nicely, and it has plenty of uses after you're done with it. Anyways, if you're not up to that, I suggest the hacksaw again. Get a metal blade instead, and the hardened one is poppy _...just going to take you an extra 3 minutes...even if you break 5 blades, thats less then the grinder rental...

why would toothpaste be any good for opening locks?

anyway, if its a cheap lock, you may want to try turning the keyhole part with a screwdriver or something and hit it with a hammer, this opens some cheap locks. its also possible to just hit downwards on a cheap lock, or even possibly undo the screws holding the hasp and lock to the door. if opeing the door is the main priority, you could take the pins out of the hinges, or look for another way in, like a window.

hope this helps a bit.

Do not attempt to use this when the temp outside is high. TNT sweats. (can't remember what the name was) The oil is extremely unstable. Tri-Nitro-Benzene!!! So unstable it only takes a slight vibration to blow you to peices.
