Hey everyone,

Im new here and finished collage and I want to do something with my time so I got reading on things that interest me and I can now call my self a phreaker (which I am very proud of) and lockpicking is something else that interests me. So I was reading post etc and searching the net and I found this nice kit.

This ok for £32?

I plan to make use of the webspace I have and make a website dedicated to learning about lock picking becasue I have yet to find one.

Well thanks for your time.

Did I read that right? You want to make a website about lockpicking, because you can't find one? *head explodes*

Make sure not to combine the two hobbies, That doesn't lead to good things.

yeh but this is a forum site. Theres no real easy navigation etc. There are about 40 odd stickeys which isnt needed. Im not slagging off this site because I am using it. But I just thought if you put a n00bs quide to lock picking on a site is would be a easyer read.

calm down.

Did you even look? You realize there are like a zillion of these already (MIT guide, crypto.com guide and on and on) right?

Any time that you're looking for info regarding things like lockpicking, you're going to have a hard time, especially when you don't know the shop talk. LP101 is not a good place to get started, you're right. I see too many confused new guys here. crypto.com is great for intermedeate students but will also confuse new guys.

If you want the basics, clearly explained, Steve Hampton has written some excellent books on the subject. If you're able to make a decent noob site, I applaud you. Be mindfull that imparting knowledge is a skill, and be prepared for a volley of seemingly dumb or nonsensical questions.

If you read the faq section a lot of answers to your questions have already been answered. Ok its not always easy finding out the information you want straight away but then again nor is lockpicking easy so whilst your searching you learn a geat deal of patience which comes in handy when picking locks

cheers. Its quite hard to find sites that start foor n00bs. Its has taken a quite a while to read up on phreaking etc. It gets complicated when there isnt one uber quide. But I found the MIT guide which seems like a good read. Its 40 odd pages though so I wont be printing it :P

I will check out crypto.com and have a browse.
Once again thanks.

Oh and the first link I gave was not a UK set but I have had a read and I am thinking that this kit http://www.devonlocks.com/LOCK-PICKING/ ... -C2010.HTM
looks ok? I dont want to buy something for £15 and end up having to buy something else after I have mastered the basics.

You certainlly want to go for the slimline. Some locks have narrow keyways (most Yales spring to mind) and the slimline sets are much easier to fit inside.

For someone who wants to start out and wants to pick a good proportion of locks the 15 or 22 piece is, imo, the best place to start. The 9 piece only has 2 tension tools and you will find some locks that neither go into. At least with the 15 and above you have a good variety of tension tools.

Hope that helps.
