What Kind of Lock is This?

Postby keith_aquino » 4 Jun 2005 1:05

I just recenlty went to my dad's office and I found this lock. I tried picking it but the insides look different. It reminded me of a ribcage. The key entrance looks somewhat like this:

_________ ________
/ \______/ \
| |
\ ______ /
\_______/ \_________/

Sorry, this is the best I can do.

I can rotate the key entrance with my pressure wrench. I can also rotate the "ribs" inside the lock. There are probably hundreds of them! I can rotate around 90% of them to ninety degrees. It doesn't seem to use pins or wafers. It's extremely different. Do you have any idea what kind of lock is this and how to pick it? If you do, should a newbie pick this? Thanks in advanced!

i doubt its a good idea to pick the lock anyway, even with noe idea what it is, it sounds fairly important and i doubt your dad would like it if you broke it.

anyway, us the [ CODE ] [/ CODE ] tags to put your picture into, that should solve the problem ;)

if you had a makers name/model number/picture, it would be even easier to give you some help. in the end it may turn out to be a very high security lock and not the best for learning to pick/discussing in the open forums anyway.

good luck!

Use the CODE tag to surround your diagram.

Observe...

Ok, I'll try to post some pictures. It is also extremely easy to place the pick in the hole. I can place 2 precision screwdrivers in it.

Keyed disc tumbler lock.

Is the keyway in a 'u' shape on one side of the lock?

Does it say Abloy on it?

It sounds like the Abloy disklock deadbolt.
