I was at security.org looking to order the book "Locks, Safes and Security" and I found this..."YOU AGREE THAT THIS SITE IS LOCATED IN SOUTH DAKOTA, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, AND THAT JURISDICTION FOR ANY CAUSE OF ACTION SHALL BE EXCLUSIVELY IN SOUTH DAKOTA. YOU FURTHER AGREE THAT THIS SITE IS ONLY DOING BUSINESS IN SOUTH DAKOTA, AND IN NO OTHER JURISDICTION FOR THE PURPOSE OF ANY LONG-ARM STATUTE." Is it saying that if you dont live in South Dakota you cant order a copy of LSS??? Someone please help clarify this for me.

No. It means that the business is legally taking place in that state, and is thus subjected to any laws in that state that apply.

Mrbuz does the cd(s) have much bypass /picking that is not in the book ? from what little info i have seen from the book its AWESOME

The public disc has around 31000 pages so I hope you don't have a real old computer with a small hard drive.
The work is the most comprehensive guide I have ever even dreamed of, including photos, scetches, blownup and dissambled locks of any kind known.
The info base is lightening swift for your surfing, and offers comprehensive directions.
There are a number of audios as well as a second supplemental disc full of a number of videos.
The author is strict about providing applicable security clearances and I thought I might be disappointed with the Public version. Trust me, the Public version is more than I will ever digest in thid lifetime.

Oh by the way I don't think previews are available for the public version.
The author wants to make each chapter indivudally available on discs for $45-$65. If I had known about LSS upon engaging in bypassing I doubt very seriously I would have ever spent a dime on any other books or videos as I have done.

Mrbuz did you buy the book and/or the cd(s) ? or did you download it? if you downloaded it can anyone get the public version ?

I bought the discs and do not even know if a download is available. The contents of the LSS infobase take up 5 gigs alone. In order to view the infobase the author must give you a code number that will work on only one compuer. This is actually done after you have installed it on your hard drive and he is good about issuing you a code more than once if you have messed up. (I did so three times.)

It is purely hobby for me and likely will never be more, but $200 isnt that big of a deal to me either....but is that overkill for someone who just wants to be able to pick their friends locks just to see the look on their face?

I really just want to be a master at simple tumbler locks and thats all really, but even that is quite difficult for me.

Like I said earlier, the infobase on the cd holds 31,000 pages of text. The book comes in at around 1400 pages. It is my guess that the print is real small or the pages are huge.
You get the book or the cds and I will reiterate the formatting of the infobase is such as you can jump from one thing to another in a split second. I am rather fond of not messing with bookmarks, etc.
The cds are in my opinion the only way to go.

I would be a little concerned about the machine specific code, what if the guy goes under? Also, you can always sell the book if you no longer need it. I would probably go with the CD as well even with that said.

If you do decide to buy the book and don't end up impressing you friends with your lockpicking skills, you can always tell them how much you paid for the LSS, and then wait for the look on their faces...

I'll second the motion. LSS/Paper was and is the best lockpicking book I've ever heard of. LSS+ is by far the best all-around resource for the lockpicker and safe opener today. If you can, then definitely get LSS+ and take it with you on a vacation as some reading material.

It's really pretty insane.
