I need help finding materials....

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

I need help finding materials....

Postby SM964 » 6 Jun 2005 20:10

I'm new to lockpicking and I need info on what to use for making a good set of picks along with a tension wrench. I figure I can find the materials at any hardware store but I don't know what is cheap yet quality. Any help would be great.

First of all SM964, welcome to LP101 :)

As for your question, here is a little helpful advice to keep you from getting your balls busted (can I say that?); there is a tremendous wealth of advice here, but you have to look. Search using "select all terms" in the little search button above. Once you have specific questions that you can not find by searching in the forums, please post...you'll find there are tons of people willing to help and encourage you.

Good luck :)

As cracksman said dont go posting things off the top of your head, SEARCH first,

As youve already gone and done it heres some ideas,

Old shopping baskets/trolleys,
Windshield wiper inserts,
Hacksaw blades,
Pop cans (soda),
Umbrellas,
Key blanks,
Sewing needles,
Video casettes,
Security tags,
Broken equipment (see somthing being thrown out, look inside for any metal),

These are all places members have found useful stuff including myself, look round site for more ideas and of how to use the bits mentioned above,

Search for hacksaw blades for a start and you will get loads of interesting hits.
