Tool recommendations, information on your favorite automatic and/or mechanical lockpicking devices for those with less skills, or looking to make their own.

I've been having a lot of success with my HPC electropick, and I remember reading before that it was basicaly a modified black and decker cordless screwdriver.
I'm interested in seeing if I can do these modifications myself, so maybe someone knowledgable out there has a break down schematic for this tool? Or if that's not possible, perhaps said person could just tell me how these modifications were made. I'm specificaly interested in how they changed the working end from a spinning motion, to a back-and-forth throw. Could this just be an adapter piece that changes the motion, or does it have to be completely replaced with a custom bit?
Any information greatly apreciated.

You would probably get a better understanding by taking apart your own item, perhaps? I would rather look at the real thing than a drawing every time.

I thought of that, but then I remembered humpty dumpty. My e-pick is too precious to me to risk taking it apart.

Sorry i cant give you the link as i havent searched for it myself but skold once posted a pick of an electric pickgun internals, it was to do with the exact same subject of making your own,
It is basically a pivoted bar that gets hit with an offset nylon 'wheel' on the motor output shaft, the bounce is controlled by a spring that is against the top of the 'rocking' bar,
Ive had my screwdriver apart and to me you could get away with machineing out the inside of the removable end a bit and then making an insert to fit inside which holds the pivot arm etc, there were no false/unused, mounting points to attach anything to, the commercial ones obviously have a specific cast end, maybe a call to the manufactuer could reasult in the purchase of just this part at a cheap price, say youve broken yours.

Indeed, very interesting.
Some things may be pick proof, but everything can be bypassed....
