Lets talk padlock shims.

Alright, on southord there 24.95$ for 20 of the shims, why the heck do I need 20? Are they freaking disposable or something? Why can't they lower the price abit and maybe give fewer or something...? is there somewhere else I can buy them from thats trustworthy/honest that would sale them for cheaper? I'm not about to spend 25$ on shims.

Theres 5 shims each of 4 different sizes. They do wear out so thats why they supply you with 5 of each size.

oh ok! thanks for the reply. There isn't a way to buy just a few (maybe one of each size) just to try, off of southord?

no, but I have been in a bind and had to improvise by cutting a shim out of a piece of a tape measure. Be careful not to cut your fingers if you decide to give it a shot.

does that work? Yeah be careful you'll slice your finger pretty good.

They will work ok, but not as slick as the real deal.

timmy i am sure this has been answered before do a search on padlock shims. It depends on the locks you use, how rough you are etc.. I understand if you get 5 uses out of them you are going well or something like that. Either way they are a throw away item.

Be careful not to cut your fingers

My hands and fingers are full of little cut's after I tried to make my own shims last night and they didn't even work.

When you ordered the Southord Shims.. did they come in like a case or something to carry it around in??? Instead of throwing it all in your pocket???

Th@'s not going to work on DISC padlocks... because they way the lock is designed is the locking mechanism is on the other side... It turns with the key... Shims work better on regular padlocks.
I still can't pick the lock, I got it to the point where all the pins were "set" @ least I think so because all the pins remained down, and it wouldn't turn.... There was another time where the middle 2 wouldn't stay down, they spring woudl just keep pushing it back up, what does th@ mean???
