You may or may not get any.

I used to buy it for £1 a fill from a local cattle breeders. It was great. I doubt they would do it now, though, due to that "Health & Safety" thing.

The drive back was fun - a venting Dewar-like Thermos flask of doom beside me, a bumpy country lane... :D

You can ban anything using H&SE, even plasters! I had to help a lady at B&Q because they didn't have any, and she had sliced her hand open. Why no plasters? Someone might be allergic to the glue! Never mind the infections from compost, risk of getting or giving something nasty to a customer, etc...

I cracked open the first aid kit and gave her a nice shiny plaster. I carry it for the rifle club at all times as a back-up, and so it had never been opened in the three years I've been carting it around!

Shooting is far safer than DIY!

Wow, that was off topic...

shooting

You use bandaids for bullet wounds, or for M1 thumb? (slammed bolt on thumb)

Neither. We haven't had any incident in years, far longer than I've been there. Not even a splinter.

We had one near miss (while I was RO) and we never figured out where the shot came from - went across at least 11 lanes, and wasn't the leftmost lanes I was looking after, as I was watching the club Secretary take his shot, which appeared, and the other lane was empty. No more people for about 5 more lanes, and then the next guys.

Total mystery, but I spoke to the guys it passed near, and they were very upset. I know them too, as I used to be in that club, and they were certain it went between them, quite low, rear to front!

Very weird. Someone swung a rifle at least 30 degrees!

But that's the only incident. Still, they made us get at least two trained R.O.s and two first aiders for every shoot, plus a risk assessment!

if it didnt hit ya

Postby raimundo » 24 May 2005 8:59

If it didn't hit ya, or come so close you could feel its wind, then it wasn't aimed at ya. they are startling though, I can remember being aware of some automatic fire cutting the weeds around me in vietnam, long time ago, also had some come close in the woods of wisconsin, either I was background to someones squirel hunting or he was trying to shake me up.

I've never been on the receiving end of live fire, thank [the deity of your choice]. Getting bounced by a squad with blanks and automatics was enough to know it isn't somewhere you want to be.

Hope never to be, either, but if I am, I hope I've brought more than a knife to that gunfight.

It's the getting dragged through the courts and beaten to a pulp by the prosecution (plus prints, DNA, photos, etc. at time of arrest) that worries me more, somehow - I can cope with the idea of a person or two, even armed, but an entire government that couldn't care less destroying me... And they are supposed to be on my side?

Well... no, they're supposed to be on society's side, of which the perp is a member, at least until he's not.

You probably haven't seen the reaction by the courts to self defence in this country, then. The UK seems to think defending yourself is a worse crime than the rape/double murder you walked in on!

You get the same reaction if you say you are a terrorist or a gun club member, in certain places. Often the terrorists are more supported and understood! :x

Hehe... no, I understand the UK situation. I'm just making the point that it's easy to misconstrue the laws and legal system in general if you look at it from the perspective of "they're here to fight for me." Well, they are -- but the other guy's a "me" too.

yes you can use it to freeze padlock shackles. I have found that it is sometimes just easier to freeze than to use bolt cutters, as the shackles are case hardened which often causes damage to the bolt cutters. I will try to find out the brand name of the propellent. Last time I actually used this method I bought the stuff at a hardware store.

It is not useful for trying to freeze the lock cylinder...big waste of time.

4-ways cross lock pick

Postby lockedin » 14 Jun 2005 0:52

One way to avoid destructive removal of the club on 4-way cross locks (cruciform?) is the use of this pick offered by multipick for this type of lock:

You might want to slow it down on the hotlinked images. Stealing bandwith is usually not taken very nicely.
