Electric Pick guns

Postby chubby007 » 27 Apr 2005 14:10

Can anyone tell me about the Southord Electric pick gun? If you have one or if you have used one, what do think of its performance and does it compare well to the HPC rechargable or equivellent. Also what's the difference between the 3 volt and the 4.5 volt? (besides the obvious)

hi i have the so electric pick and find it to be quite good its not 100% but then nothing is. its seems well made and the 4.5v one i have has plenty of power (makes the kids jump when i buzz them when they arnt looking  ). im told that the only difference between the 3v and the 4.5v is the speed of the pick and how long the batterys last, mine have lasted ages 3 duracell given about 15 mins every other day ive had it over a month now and im well impressed with it. but ive noticed its just a quicker way to pick, somtimes i still have to set securty pins by manule picks as well. you wont just buy one and magicly open stuff its not dr whos sonic screwdriver ( do you know where i can get one ??) :D

Thanks for that, I've opted for the one from Davenports, practice and more practice. Thanks again for the advise. :D

I brought a southord 4.5 volt pick and find it good to use maybe not quiet as powerful as a hpc, but if you go to this site http://southord.com/catalog.asp?cat=Outlet you can get a great deal. it's southords clearance site.i paid $ 89 for mine it arrived after 6 days.

Lets be honest they all do the same thing in the same way (ok there is multipicks which actualy is differantly designed)

You should get good results out of any of them,

4.5v a little harsher and lasts longer, 3v a little softer (ideal for security pins) and doesnt last as long on power (probably only an hour or so in it though)

I would just go with the best priced one and then learn to use that machine, ive seen most of them and they all seem to open the locks in skilled hands.
