Why is it that after i pick a padlock more than 10 times it begins to open MUCH easier? I've found it to be true with a multitude of different brands. They begin to open almost effortlessly, like the mechanics of the lock have changed...

You are running on muscle memory, its when your body learns the steps that you when to picks it and there is virtually no challenge, move on to another lock

im pretty sure it isnt muscle memory. its likely to be wear and tear as you could proberly give the lock to someone else and they could pick it

it'll be muscle memory, unless you're very heavy handed or using a pick gun, i doubt that the pins have become noticablly worn, think about how many cycles of key use they are made to withstand. on the other hand you could pick the same lock a dozen times over a couple of days, learning. i've spent quite a lot of time looking at learning physical skills and methods of teaching them, my money's on muscle memory.

What you need to do is get ur hands on 24kg of U-235 an smash it together real fast when ur near the lock lol that'll make a fission reaction that opens the lock remember to shield the uranium core with beryllium that makes the reaction stronger oh yeah an if u really want to make a statement u can add cells of deutrium and tridium for fusion big boom yo lol. dont forget to tamp your U-235 slug with heavy water yo does anyone out there know how I can make an enrichment centerfuge in my basement how many cycles for Colorado yellowcake u think maybe four or five im talkin like 92% enriched Uranium an how do I hide it from my mom and her boyfriend lol get right past those spools....

Here's a similar turn of circumstances:

I've been picking a key-in-knob lock that the construction folks left behind in my apartment after finishing my building. It has the same keyway (and presumably the same master keying [I haven't taken it apart] as my own apartment.) The first thing I did, of course, was try my key. It didn't work. I've been picking it for a while, which I can now do quite easily. However, for some reason my key will now open the lock. Any explanations?

The lock was construction keyed. No one used the "breakout key" so you must have picked to this shearline, thus allowing the later use of your key. This kind of keying is often done with bal bearings. I bet if you carefully dissassembled the knob, with a plug follower etc, you would find between 3-5 ball bearings in small holes to one side of the plug.
