Rule #12 added, please let me explain. First off we pride ourselves as a resource for people to learn from. With the rules in place we hope to run a clean system where everyone can learn from. Rule #12 is in respect to Moderators decisions, each moderator when they edit or delete a post should send a private message to the user, sometimes it does get mixed up where the user does not get the message. Rather than making a public thread asking why was this thread edited or deleted read over the rules see if you went off topic or broke any rules then contact one of the moderators to that forum you posted on asking why.

We ask that everyone shows respect for our moderators here, and if their actions be questioned it be done in a private message. Remember the moderators run the forum here so its good to play well with them.


db edit: Please note, the above should not be taken to mean that a PM will be sent every time a post is deleted. This is just not possible. When a newer member makes a seemingly unknowing error and a post must be deleted, a PM will typically be sent to explain the deletion and highlight the rule that was offended. Moderators do not have time in a day to send PMs to every poster in a deleted thread.

Rule 18 Added - This rule was put in place as many new forums and websites are popping up on the internet. Many but not all of these websites are trying to attract new users, some of which by spam and posts. LP101 was created as an information portal to allow users to discuss the topics set, it is in the best interest of the community to not allow these type of posts. You're still able to reference posts of interest from higher sources to a topic but referencing another site for the purpose of driving traffic to it will not be allowed. LP101 is a educational resource, keep growing the library by posting.

Greetings all forum members!

It is 2013, and 10 years into this great experiment we call lockpicking101.com, I feel it is time to revisit the current rules, and adjust any that need to keep up with the times. Why do we have all these rules? As time went on and new situations were met, rules had to be put in place to help the forum run smoothly. Some rules exist because a member or groups of members could not enjoy the forum as it was and it forced past management to put rules in place to stop certain behaviors. In a perfect world with perfectly behaved members, we would need no rules, but at this time we do.

As this year goes on, you will see both some minor, and some major changes. I will keep everyone updated as we do this work.
