Flexible key??

Has anyone ever seen one of these before?

It has flexible keys to reduce pickability or something.

I don't really have a question about it other than, wtf?

That's pretty weird. I'm guessing not many people have seen this lock.

The keys are flexible so you can lock it at a funny angle, making picking impossible until somebody makes a flexible pick. The key looks like it has some sort of RFID technology in it, which can be bypassed. It is exotic? oh yeah. Unpickable? No way.

Couldnt you just bend a pick to a certain angle? Or no? I am thinking that the locks (pins) are at a pre-set angle and the key just bends to that angle when inserting it into the lock...is this not so?

Does this concept mean that every time the lock is locked in a different position, the pins are set in a different way? Does the fact that the keys are flexible might mean that that don't retain the pin combo until inserted into the lock? Exactly how flexible are the keys? I would be very interested in seeing a video of this lock in action, going through various stages of locking, unlocking and what the plug and keyway would look like when dismantled. Interesting.... :wink:

Never seen a lock like that before, I agree with crispy. I could have a new pin setup everytime it's locked. A day left, hmmmm...should I buy it? I'll lock into it.

Definitely an interesting concept...the key itself couldn't be really flexible otherwise the "cuts" would be too flexible as well...

The lock could have an extremely thick coating of rubber around it...that's just plain weird.

This has to be a joke. The description of the flexible keys...and what is the purpose of the carbon fibre cladding?

Look at the image...if that hasn't been Photoshopped I'll show my Donkey on the Town Hall steps at Mid-day! Why would a blurry forked protrusion be (digitally) attached to the lock for no other purpose than to attach a key to?

Quicklocks or Houdini must be "avin' a larf" here. :wink:

I don't agree---if the individual segments of the key were linked like many necklaces are (everybody check your wife/significant other/your? jewlery boxes) there would be suffient vertical integrity while remaining flexible horizontally. I think this lock would work, however it doesn't seem too pick resistant as a bent pick seems like it would work--unless the keyway actually zig-zagged, in which case it would be a doozy.

Kinda makes me think of the toy snakes I used to see as a kid. Each section linked together in such a way that when held by the tail it would remain rigid and slither back and forth.

I have no idea if this is legit. If it is, I would sure like to know more, but not quite enough for that kind of cash... so hopefully someone else out there will be just as curious, and marginally wealthier than I.

The keys bend so they dont poke through your pockets or stab in to your leg,
When pushed in to the keyway i would imagine that the key locks up (as the joins are closed up with compression) and it acts like a normal key,

The stuff about carbon fibre is rubbish as it is just a sheaf,

The stuff about inserting the key at any angle is rubbish as well and is written as the guy obviously wants to sell them and doesnt know what hes got properly,

Not available in europe? why? perhaps this is another sales speel, surely somthing as magical and high security would have been heard of before,

If you read the entire advert it sounds like its been made up by a market seller with typical banter chucked in,

Ask him who the locksmiths are so you can speak to them, i bet he doesnt tell you,

The key does look interesting but the lock doesnt and personally i tend to stay clear of sellers who only accept paypal, ask for immediate payment and fill the advert out with mindless rubbish.

But thats only my opinion.
