simple diary lock

i have a diary witch i want to open, but i have lost the keys.
it looks very simple but i have no experience what so all...
it's a hang lock

I'd put a little bend in the end of a paperclip and give it a wiggle and turn,
although I have seen posts like this before and some of the other guys
recommend looking down the keyway with 'crazy eyes' and that
will normally pop right open.

Another thing that a picker was wondering in that same thread, was:
Why do you want to be looking in little girls' diaries?

Lock picking is a really fun hobby and could even help you become a locksmith, if you are interested in that field. But its not for getting in somewhere you are not supposed to be.

So leave your sister/girlfriend's diary alone! They are going to find out you read it anyway and your probably going to get punched or your girlfriend will never speak to you again, which will be really sad. However if this does occur, please post a message here so I can laugh my a** off

If its not your diary, then my previous posts stands. If it IS your diary then I am not too sure about the Scooby Doo thing. Either way, bad choice.

it's not the scoo bi doo diary, mine is leather (black) but i can't take a picture of it cause i don't have a cam

Yes, the bent paper clip idea whould work nicely. Also, you could try a bent hair pin, bent safety pin, etc. That should help you get into your scooby doo diary.

Sorry to go flame-on (or at least defrost ) Bramhawk, but even though it is just a diary a lot of here at LP101 are big into ethics.

Usually those diary locks just break off. Or you can just use a scissors to cut through the plastic hasps.

Yeah... people know... we just don't sit around here for months waiting for you to pop in needing an immediate answer.

For a more permanent solution:

Take it with you to a locksmith shop. Some locksmiths stock a variety of luggage, suitcase and jewelry box keys and you should be able to get a new key for it very reasonable (about $3) .
