I live in Edmonton... I'm not a locksmith, but I'd probably be interested.

Alright...I know time is short before DEFCON, but it would be nice to have a kick-off meeting before the 22nd...let's pull out our schedule books and get things rolling. How does the evening of the 16th (SAT) sound?

16th works for me, and I'm offering the use of my basement in South Edmonton for meeting space (until we can find something else once we are established).
I'd personally prefer it in the afternoon rather than the evening, but that's not a huge deal. I'm flexible
If your planning on attending, just PM me and I'll send you my address and a map (I'm in Millwoods and you'll need a map)
Friends and others who are interested are welcome as well, just let me know how many people will be attending so I know how many chairs to setup.

I've got a meeting that morning, so late afternoon /early evening would really be preferrable, if that's o.k....4 pm ish with ending at 7-8 latest?
Tenative Agenda for the meeting will be something as follows:
Introductions
Brief intro to lockpicking by Renderman (if new folk are present)
Food/beverages (how do we want to work this, bring our own B.B.Q. stuff or just bring money and have Renderman supply?)
Lockpicking roundtable (tools and locks supplied by Varjeal (for those who don't bring any) sit around and pick some locks)
High security lock installation demonstration (Varjeal and kuefler)
Chapter President Elections
Go home

Food, good point.
I think pot-luck would be the best bet. Everyone bring something to drink, and something to throw on the grill I can provide the condomints, plates, etc.
Thanks for the heads up on the lockpicking demonstrationintro presentation Varjeal
Bring locks if you want to share picking tricks, or to challenge others. I'll have a couple tables setup we can sit around and pick away.
Shall we say from 4-7 and we can go longer if needed?

and the lord said unto kuefler "go forth, and bring with thee potato salad, and all ye lockies shall be pleased!"
It came to me in a vision, I swear! Anywayz, potluck, what am I brining? Also, how many people can we expect(so I know how much of whatever to bring)? Should I get a cattle prod for "crowd control"?
Look forward to meeting all you crazy albertan lockies!

Alright, to further clarify things here's whats going on:
Saturday July 16th, 2005 4p.m. start-7p.m-ish finish. (feel free to be a bit early but DON'T be late.)
Bring your own B.B.Q-able item(s) burgers, steak, hotdogs, and buns where necessary, and whatever you want for beverages, everything else Renderman will be supplying. (Thanks for that offer btw)
-Also, might want to bring your own portable clamp-on vise if you wish to pick your locks while they are mounted.
kuefler: if you'd like, bring salad for 6-8.
I'll be supplying a box full of locks, from simple wafer and filing cabinet locks to Medeco and some other nasties, so everyone should be able to have some fun.
Picking tools that can be borrowed for testing will be: warded, schlage wafer picks (hopefully someone has a Schlage wafer lock or two as I don't), standard HPC, Southord, Brockhage, Peterson, Raimundo, Ilco, Rytan, home-made, and at least one mechanical pickgun.
I'd also like to see a few more coming as we probably have room for a group of approximately ten, leaving us space for six more, so post in here if you wanna come.
Anyone have a stop-watch? We should have some speed contests too.

My own (though less impressive) collection of locks will be available too and my pickset (break them and die!) as well.
I've posted info about the meeting on my site at renderlab.net and my blog, so hopefully that will spur some more attendees as I get a fair number of emails from people curious about lockpicking and I'll be contacting people who have expressed interest in the past.
Facilities won't be impressive, but I'll be setup for 10 people and more chairs can be added.
Don't worry db, lots of photo's will be taken and posted
Hopefully we can sustain and get the first LSI meeting off the ground.
