Well, I don't know about locksmiths as I'm sure they deal with a lot of different varities of locks. I have I think 17 or 18 picks in my "tool box." I find the ones I use the most are the hook and half diamond. Those two along with a tension wrench is enough to get anyone started on most standard locks.

#2 Doesn't apply to me, but I have around 33 tools in my box. Which are a variety of hooks, tension wrenches, rakes, etc...

Hmm, i kinda have 2 "toolboxes". One of them is my "Shop" as i like to call it. When my parents bought our house it came with a big worn down toolshed that was in the backyard. My parents considered the shed an eye sore so they gave me permission to "deal with it". I tore it down and gave it to the local junk yard, then i built a whole new shed. It just contains basic security tools, such as key cutting machine (kinda junky though..), big workbench and lots of bypass tools.

My other "toolbox" that i have is an actual toolbox that i keep in my truck. It basically consists of numerous picks (store-bought and home brew), shims, a cordless dremmel, a mini home-made shovit tool (really only works on weak-medium strength doors though) and more.

i have 2 kits one has roughly 16 and the other probly has about ten but i dont use all of them if you are just starting out picing i would advise to get a fairly small kit/make your own because they can be costly and you would probly want to see if you actuly want to continue with it, you wouldnt want to waste your money
