key cutting

i am wanting to know how to cut keys... without damageing the lock but i havent been able to find anything but stuff on impressioning... if you can help please do

You can either cut to code, impression a blank, or re-key the lock. Without a key cutting machine, it is tedious and time-consuming and the $4 you give Mr Minit is well worth it to save you the hassle!!

yeah i know there is stuff on ipressioning... i dont know how to cut to code tho can someone explain it to me thats what i was hopeing someone could tell me

Cutting to code requires either space and depth keys or a lot of patience. One uses space and depth keys to file each cut into the correct key blank. Normally this is done on a key cutting machine, but it seems you don't have one. If you need the cut depths go to:

Also, to cut to code, you need to know the cut code (ie. 34221, etc.) or have the key. Hope this helps.
