The pic doesnt show the picks very well to give good advice but looking at the pic it seems the picks may not be too bad, are you trying to fully insert the tension wrench into the keyway whislt trying to get a pick in? this is wrong if so, the tension wrench can be positioned in many places to avoid the pick like the top of the keyway or in the very bottom, it can also be inserted as little as 1.5mm or fully down depending on the keyway,

You say you struggle getting 2 picks in the keyway, i take it this is a typing mistake and that you arent trying to put 2 picks in at the same time, if so this is your problem, you only insert one at a time,

My plug followers are just 1/2" steel tube (outside diameter) i dont have the slot and dont miss it, a lot of members just use a marker pen, anything that fits in the 'plug hole' is fine, its only for holding the pins up afterall, even a rolled piece of cornflake packet or your finger (if small enough) will do.

Yeah typo I mean I have trouble fitting the tension wrench and a pick in at the same time.

Especially on the back door style lock I was trying to pick. (Being from the UK hopefully you know what I mean).
