Microswitched sash lock

Postby acl » 28 Jun 2005 14:35

Anyone know of a sashlock with a microswitch.Theyve actually got 3 inch oval sashcases (newly fitted) at worst ill take switches out off 114s and fit them to a sash case but im a lazy sod and id rather a quick replacement.

No to your question, what I used to do was put a switch in the striker plate, a lot easier that drilling a hole all the way through the door etc and much simpler to retrofit.

Use the large ' plunger type ' as they are robust and hard to break.

Paul, the door is an internal one built into flimsy ali partion frames so im not sure the hole in the striking plate would be deep enough to accomadate the switch and let the bolt throw fully(am i making sense here?)
Thanks Andy

You could put a switch on the top or bottom of the strike plate hole, the switch would then have to be one that has a roller on the arm which would roll along the top or bottom of the bolt, most locks have enough room for that way but if not you could drill a hole in the top of the stricker hole and fit a switch in there and file an angle on the switch so it acts like a latch when the bolt is thrown,

Only some suggestion but may help,

Off the top of my head i think i saw a microswiched sashlock in the eurostar catalogue but im not sure, i will have a look and get back to you later.
