fire fyter combination

Postby calfroper » 1 Apr 2005 8:19

I inherited a fire fyter safe. Before I got it my family lost the combination. I have the serial number. I was wondering what is the best way to get in to it. It is empty so I am not in any big rush, but I would like to be able to use it.

You can search the forum, but for the most part you'll have a hard time finding anything about breaking into safes. There are a few methods, but they generally involve destroying the safe or using expensive equipment.

The "best" way to get into it is probably just to call the company that makes it and provide them with the serial number and proof of purchase (or whatever else they ask for). More than likely, they catalog the combinations.

It looks pretty simple to get the combo if you have the serial number. It will cost you $12 and a notarization.

You can't 'manipulate' a electronic combo safe (ala Matt Blaze, that is for mechanical safe locks only). They sometimes can be bypassed, but not always. Of course, a little fire proof safe won't stand up to Mr. Bosch too long either. However, I would just save myself the trouble (and potential/sure damage to the safe) and spend the $12 unless this is purely a challenge project.

Do you mean electronic keypad combination safes? I was under the impression that these can be 'spiked'.....

I thought they only made electronic keypad safes. I was wrong on that . So it might be manipulated or spiked (depending on the kind of lock) duh!

Just rember that if you put a hole in the skin of that safe it no longer has its fire rating so all you will have is a metal box with a cheep lock on it
