Some home made double enders I made.

At the time I was short of bristles and it was the best way I could conserve the few I had.

These were made about two years ago, but I"ve got the grinder out and I'm off and running again

I thought about getting some made picks, then bending the handle end over a bit to make a tool with a pick head one end, a tension wrench the other. then take something like a normal SO snap shut case, but cut out the bottom bit on the front and replace it with the see through bit from a wallet, so you can see what pick your getting. Is this what you did or not, i cant really tell. I think it could be useful to save on space though. Has it been done before at all?

Hi, M.I.T. no they are not like raimundos bogota set they are just normal picks with a different pick on both end of the steel. I was experimenting to see if I could get away with one double ended pick and one tension wrench. the ends were just what was my favourite pick at that time. I put shrink wrap around to make them more comfortable.

I just used an old file case to keep them in but your idea sounds much better.

Raimundos picks are different to my idea actually and it could be better used with hacksaw blade, but whereas raimundos have lots of fancy bends and stuff to make handles, these would be simple and totally flat except for a 90degree bend at the end for the wrench. I'll see if i can draw a picture, it might be easier to show, we'll see.

It could be done. If you twisted the end of the steel like some of the tension wrenches it would be flatter and easier to carry. But you would need to carry at least two. It would not be hard to make.

Sorry after re-reading your post I think you meant a wider piece of steel, and to grind a tension wrench at the end. Interesting idea. I've often fancied an absolutely flat wrench. It could fit in your wallet without any bumps. hmmm.......

possibly like that to make a flat one, but for the idea, basically get one of your tension wrenches and a pick and hold the wrench so its got the blade sticking up from the wider flat side of the pick, then they go in the pick case sort of upside down and looklike tension wrenches from the top but have the rest of a pick on the other end. its hard to explain, im trying to draw it but even my stick men are dodgy!

Yes I've seen these wrenches, never tried them, but they look good for carrying.
What M.I.T. is looking for is (I think) a flat lock pick on one end and on the other end a wrench like your flat model. However on balance your wallet set looks very neat and more useful. Maybe when I see M.I.T.'s picture I'll have a better idea.

I think it's spring steal, but at 1 mm thick it doesn't have much spring

I got 2 with a navigator pick set, the set was no good but I found these handy. I wonder if you could silver-solder a wrench together like this, would it be strong enough?

In the uk you can buy these tension wrenches separately (in sets of two I think) from tradenet uk.
