HELLO!

Postby qcenaman » 30 Jun 2005 20:42

Hello, i´m new to all this, but i would love to learn everything i can about lockpicking. :)
I´ve downloaded several lockpicking tutorials and i´m learning so much.
Unfortunately í don´t have any tools yet.
I´m from portugal, can someone tell me, wich picking kit would be the best for me?
And were is the best place to buy it?
I know i don´t have any experiencie, but still i want to pick the lock on my frontdoor for fun. :)
The lock is from LINCE (spanish), and i think it´s a high security lock...
Can anyone help me on this?
Thanks.

qcenaman,

First off welcome :)
I'm pretty sure your the one millionth person to ask the same kind of questions. Lockpicking is a skill, it takes practice so you may want to start with something simpler than your front door. I would also strongly suggest that you Do Not Pick any lock you use to secure anything, you could damage the lock. As for picks, search this site, or google it, you can buy some, but I don't know about customs and the laws in your country, you'll have to check. Thier is more than enough info on this site to make an excellent set for yourself as well.

Good luck :)

p.s. search before you post questions as most have already been answered

lock ? cylinder?

Postby qcenaman » 30 Jun 2005 21:18

Hi again, sorry about my stupid questions lol.
I´ve been reading a bit more and i realized i wrote lince lock, but from what i´ve learned, the thing i have in my front door it´s called a cylinder....
Is it a lock different from a cylinder? Or are they the same thing!?
I must sound really stupid... but remember my language is portuguese... not english. :)

thank you

Some things may be pick proof, but everything can be bypassed....

Howdy y'all...

Postby aquaregia » 30 Jun 2005 22:41

Just happened to stumble across the site... Very impressive.

Basically, I inherited a couple Chubb padlocks, some old, some new.

After looking down the keyway of my first AVA 10 disc, I was hooked.

While I've yet to pop the AVA, the requisite training to understand such a complex lock has given me a new lifelong hobby.

Anyways, happy picking and/or manipulation.

Hello.
I'm new to the forums. I'm from Spain and I actually have no training on lock picking but I'm gathering information before buying anything. I just want to have some fun and learn, which is my goal.

Welcome to all the new members. :D

Here is your new best friend:
ImageSearch (hint - it's at the top of the page)

These questions are not your best friend, and will probably end up with the fire service looking you up:
"What is the best pick set for me?"
"What is the easiest lock for me to start with?"
"How can I make picks?"
"What is the best material for making picks?"
"What is a lock?"
"What is a pick?"
"What is a tension/torsion/turning wrench for?"
"I pushed up all the pins and the lock doesn't open...why?"

All the above questions have been answered many many many many times, with the results found either in the FAQ's, or from use of the search button.

If you don't feel like searching and reading, please take up knitting and make yourself a flame-retardent suit.

Hi, I was thinking of taking up knitting, but I'm not sure what kind of needles to use. So Mick I thought maybe you could help me;

"Can you suggest some good knitting needles?"
"Is there any easy kniiting design I should start with?"
"Can I make my own knitting needles"
"If I can, what should they be made out of?"
"What is yarn?"
"What is a "darning needle" ?"
"What is Yarn used for?"
"I knitted a sweater for this girl I like, why does she run away from me?"

-thanks in advance Mick

Please let me put on my knitting101 hat....

cracksman wrote:"Can you suggest some good knitting needles?"

Since you're pretty new, you could go with a mid-range needle, let's say a size 8, which is 5mm. If you'd searched, you'd already know this though...http://www.vogueknitting.com/tech/needles/needles.html
cracksman wrote:"Is there any easy kniiting design I should start with?"

You could start by making a simple grammar correction, then search using the correct term.
cracksman wrote:"Can I make my own knitting needles"

Do you have access to the necessary equipment? If not, you can improvise with double-sided tape and a watering can. Search for 'sticky-gardener's' excellent video.
cracksman wrote:"If I can, what should they be made out of?"

Dipsticks, wiper blade strips, larger knitting needles and a lathe, or chopsticks joined with heat-shrink.
cracksman wrote:"What is yarn?"

An unbelieveable tale of picking feats involving bobby pins and Medeco's.
cracksman wrote:"What is a "darning needle"

The first improvised pick, which got stuck in one's finger!
cracksman wrote:"What is Yarn used for?"

Mis-information for the uneducated knitting noob who is unwilling to read the knitting pattern!
cracksman wrote:"I knitted a sweater for this girl I like, why does she run away from me?"

You knitted it from Angorra. It itches and you stink whilst wearing it. Try barbed wire next time.
