ive done two, one i raked to set the spools and the thing bloody opened (never happens at the door when its raining)
the other i zapped with the gun just to set the spools quick, you can single pick or rake for the same effect it just takes alittle longer and i wanted to keep the vids short
i should have charged people to veiw these id have made a mint guess im too nice
Wow. Thanks, that's impressive. I wonder what make of picks they were (the manual ones). I suppose I should try this in a vice instead of holding the lock in one hand and applying tension with a finger of that hand.
Regarding videos (and charging), the set is certainly a valuable resource which can be a great confidence booster. I'm certainly grateful to you for the 'request' lock vids.
the vid site was getting abit messy so ive re-grouped them in to directoys now and im starting on a advanced one that will only be open to people in the avanced section sorry. so if you want in then pm me for the password
Just a quick update on my Yale 'problem'. I just tried to copy what quicklocks did with his rake in the first yale video. The two things I tried were a) apply tension anti-clockwise, and b) use the rake. I was holding the lock in my hand as I don't have a vice set up at the moment.
To my surprise after about 6 seconds the lock came apart in my hands! (I'd forgotten that the circlip was no longer on the back) so I have pins and springs all over the floor. But anyway, success after years of failure. Thanks, quicklocks! It just shows the value of a picture compared with text.

Thats funny i was messing around opening yale locks today i also phoned up B&Q to see if they had a yale X5 and they have i will be playing with that tomorrow????
What i would like to say is very nice videos again quicklocks...

will do one when i have a x5 cylinder. though that vid will probably be a bit longer ive yet to open one reliably i only seem to open them by chance. i need more practice myself on them

Hope I haven't started something. I mean, along the lines of 'Challenge Quicklocks'. From what I've heard the X5 is a bit hit and miss for picking. Still, quicklocks, you only have to show the attempt that works!
PS I'd still like to know what picks you were using on the Yale. A bit academic as I've now opened 5/6 of the Yales I have, using the famous 'quicklocks' technique, but it would still be interesting.
my hand picks are majestic the 32piece set ithink its 32 anyway ive added bits when i get a x5 iwill have a go and if i cannot do it im not afraid to say so
