Today i spent about 30 minutes trying to pick this padlock i have. I am using a pen piece for tension wrench and a very sturdy paperclip for the pick.
First i raked the lock and got about 2 pins down. I kept scrubbing it and had only 2 left to do. I got 1 down and couldnt get the other. I thought Maybe i need more tension and my pen piece broke off inside the lock. I guess its just more research till i order some tools

What you really need are some better tools. I would suggest replacing the pen tip with something better, possibally one of those prescision screwdrivers. That might help you a bit more.

The pen clips I have used are not that wimpy, I suspect you are over-torquing (turning too hard). If you are insisting on using improvised tools, dull the tip of a large safety pin (don't hurt yourself, if you fall down and impale yourself, it's not my fault, etc. etc.) and then bend the tip bend into a hook. At least then you will have a much better tool.
