lock changes

hi,
done loads of lock changes,but had 2 today for wifes that have had big fallout with husband/boyfriend ist one she kept a look out for him coming round and she says he has 2 pit bull dogs , but if he dose appear dont worry if he says you better come out or i will kill you or i will let the dogs go when you come out but it was a very close shave as when i turned the van round to leave there he was bald fella and yes 2 pit bulls in tow, boy that was close, i am thinking of kicking these in touch in the future but its hard to turn work down!
just wondering if any of you guys have come face to face with the other half if so what was the out come?

I noticed you were in the UK. As I am in Australia, we basically have the same legal system (barr individual Acts), and these are the situations you wish you were in the good ol' US of A, as it is legal to carry personal protection in the form of mace or pepper spray and would be perfect for these situations.

Unlike Australia (and the UK) where the weapons are taken away from the law-abiding citizens but kept in the hands of criminals. When carrying a weapon for protection (which is illegal....) you are charged with Possession of a Weapon in a Public Place.

Once, as a colleague of mine was walking down a driveway to deliver court documents regarding unpaid debts, he had a 9mm thrust in his face as he reached the doorstep and was told to "F*ck off" (in Australia this is a big deal...) Needless to say, he dropped the papers at the guys feet and walked away.

But I wouldn't have wanted to meet that guy or those pitties either.

All in the line of duty, eh?

I don't know what you've heard about the US, but that is a big F-ing deal here too. The vast majority of "thugs" here do not carry. Many of my friends are appaled that I do, and I am a former SF operator. (much like a wimpy SAS if you will.) The four or so times I have drawn my weapon I was terrified and walked away from the encounter feeling like a scared five year old. Guns and violence are just as scary in the US, John Wayne is a myth.

If youre worried keep your snapper close by, its as good as a weapon but can not be classed as one unless you start on someone with it in an unprovoked attack,

Do not show any emotion whatsoever, stand tall and look the person in the eyes, dont back away and leave, you are ment to be there and you are carrying out your job,

You will find that if someone is going to hit you, 9/10 times they will not say anything, no arguments, no warnings, they will walk up and smack you, the ones who stand there shouting their mouth off usually have never even been in a fight,

If you know you are going to a dodgy job ask for police presence for peace of mind,

Stand your ground, dont show people you can be bullied and things will not kick off, it reminds me of when i was car jacked, or should i say treid to be, i got out the car looked them straight in the face and said if they were going to stab me then do it, i would still kick off and go to the death, the kid looked at me and ran off even dropping his knife

Im not saying this is the best course of action in every situation but it works for me,

Sometimes there will be a job you just have to turn down for safety reasons.

Personally? i would have taken my time and hoped that the skin head came home while i was there! but thats me and i thrive on trouble

a good stout pair of boots doesn't hurt either, (well not you) remember you're at work so toe caps are permited

Yes, forgot that one, i have a nice pair of CAT shoes for night work, they can make you look a little taller as well if desired.

Maybe you were just unlucky or maybe I'm lucky.

I've had lots of jobs like this but have never met the angry husband,
which is a good thing as I was the locksmith who went to Mrs Pemberton
(I think that was the name) when her husband glued the locks. Like others
she said he was violent. A few months later by coincidence I was called
to the same house where someone else there told me that she and her
son had been shot dead by the husband, he then shot himself. Another
few months and there was an inquest and the details of what happened
was in all the papers and on tv. These type of jobs are one reason I
don't advertise on my van.
